Mission Team

As in the past we were “Mission focused and Mission Driven” on both local and global areas. Locally we continued to contribute food and clothing to Master’s Manna. Giving to their Food Pantry is always one of our major efforts. Once again, The Cove asked our quilters for 100 quilts for their Camp Erin. Thanks to the generosity of our members in giving and helping we once again achieved our goal. The two quilting bees we had showed how everyone understood our share in the healing process of the grieving children.

In the spring, we successfully worked with the Sunday School group to show how quilts can be comforting in time of sadness. The kids worked on one who turned out really beautiful. Kids working to help other kids. This fall, with the Giving Tree we reached two goals: help the needy by giving them presents and feed the birds who are also part of God’s creation. To reach these goals, we again worked with the children and made “birdseed ornaments” to help people choose their donation.

We also introduced “Matthew 25: Ministries” They accept donations of empty pill bottles for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies and for shredding and recycling. Their pill bottle program fulfills the dual needs of improving medical care in developing countries and caring for the environment. We can care for a needy world with the things we throw away.

Globally we still support Heifer, Blanket Sunday, Tool Sunday and The Church World Service. Ray Classen and a few other members have done wonderful work with the CWS.
