I have been enjoying the beautiful windows we have in our sanctuary as I spend time in the sanctuary. The colors change with the time of day, each hour has its own beauty.
I mentioned during a sermon this summer some of the symbols in the windows that symbolize Christ. This particular window that is pictured here is one of my favorites. The anchor is a symbol that may not be as familiar as some Christian symbols. The anchor is an image in the Bible in the book of Hebrews 6:19: “We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…” This is Jesus Christ, the anchor for our souls! What a wonderful image to have in our sanctuary. Our stained glass windows are picture sermons that we can enjoy and reflect on as we settle our souls each Sunday morning.
